30TH VIENNA BALL IN ATHENS

It has been a great pleasure and honor for GT Tsangarakis group to attend and sponsor a great event which took place on Saturday 25th at Terpsichore hall in Athens Hilton hotel.

Johan Strauss music sounded in 30th Vienna Ball in Athens brought Viennese atmosphere into the air. Our goal was to support "Flame" Foundation that relates to children with cancer and also "Child Asylum" in Thessalonika.

Under the auspices of Carolos Papoulias - President of Greek Republic, Austrian Embassy in Athens,Vienna and Athens municipalities, Greek society of former students in Austria, the event was a crowning success.

The evening began with traditional Austrian Waltz by 20 couple debutantes. Music by Classical Orchestras Ellemis and Big Bang Melody impressed the audience. Great performances were given by Greek National Opera Ballet Soloist and Sopranos Mrs. Maria Kokka, Mrs. Rena Athanasiadou - Nomikou and Mrs. Lydia Aggelopoulou who interpreted arias from Johan Strauss famous opera "The Bat".

Melitta Schubert - Austrian Ambassador in Athens, gave a speech that had a great impact to all attendees. Dressed in a lovely black gown, wearing an exquisite unique pearl necklace she expressed her admiration to Greeks. Her arrival coincided with the outbreak of Greek financial crisis. She realized that although many of us struggle for our existence, we support each order. Despite the difficulties we face is really amazing - those were her exact words- that our high sense of responsibility gives us the strength and the will for charity.

Opening speech was given by Mr. Konstantinos Katsikas, President of Greek society former students studied inAustriafoundation (S.E.F.A).

Only a few for our important attendees were:

Mrs. Kaiti Kaphsi - President of Thessalonika & Macedonia Women Association
